I'm having problems too. My brother and I both just installed Lion OS X two days ago. I went to go watch a DVD (that works fine.tested it in my DVD player on my TV).on my 15' macbook pro, and it would open up apple's dvd player and just stop. Force quit, and tried it again, making sure that I was closed out of everything else, and still wouldn't work. Went and tried it on my brother's 13' macbook.he had the same problem. So JUST to make sure it wasn't Lion's fault, I went downstairs to my mom's desktop apple that doesn't have Lion on it yet.and the DVD worked JUST FINE.
No problems whatsoever. Guess Apple needs to fix that. Did a clean Lion install on my Late 2009 MacBook and have also been experiencing consistent issues with DVD Player. Upon launching (or attempting to), the application name appears along the top menu bar and icon appears in dock, but nothing else appears (player window or controls).
Secondary click on the dock shows 'Force Quit' automatically. This can happen whether I open DVD Player from Launchpad, dock, or Finder. Seems to take about 3 or 4 attempts, then suddenly, it works. Should note that this consistently happens when I immediately try launching DVD Player after waking MacBook (about the first 30 seconds to 1 minute). I've also found that my Wi-Fi connection doesn't work during this time.
Snow Leopard did not behave this way on same machine. Anyone figure this out yet? Me: 27' 2.66GHz i5 iMac and DVD player starts disks but as soon as I try to move on the timeline, or switch chapters or do just about anything, it comes to a halt and stops responding. I've reset the PRAM, reset the SMC, fixed permissions, deleted DVD Player prefs and cache, and probably some other troubleshooting steps, but so far nothing works. By the way, this is happening with VideoTS folders that I know to be good on multiple hard drives and which worked fine in 10.6. Rey Mo wrote: Anyone figure this out yet? Same problem here, move the scrubber or use the fast forward/rewind controls, full screen or not, and I get the spinning beachball. Only point of interest is that I am using an external monitor (as well as the laptop screen) with my aluminium MacBook Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz (4GB RAM).
